THE University of Chicago: 5730 South Woodlawn Avenue
New Home for University of Chicago’s MAPSS and CIR Graduate Program
MIA is providing Architectural/Engineering services for the renovation and addition to house the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences and The Committee on International Relations graduate programs. The adaptively reused facility will be completely accessible and will provide the programs with reception and lounge spaces as well as offices and meeting rooms. Located within the Hyde Park – Kenwood National Register Historic District and maintaining a façade easement held by Landmarks Illinois, the historic 1896 residence was built for faculty housing for the then newly established University. MIA completed an HSR and is overseeing the restoration of historic features including the entrance mosaic flooring.
