Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary: Loder Hall Renovation
LEED Gold Multi-Use Higher Education Facility Renovation on Northwestern University Campus

The Loder Hall renovation included a thorough reworking of the 35,000 square foot, 1959 dormitory to provide classroom space, offices, kitchen and dining, bookstore, student center and lounge as well as sleeping rooms with private baths.  The renovation included new elevator; electrical, plumbing and geothermal mechanical systems with geothermal wells installed under a parking lot; finishes and furnishings; telecommunications and landscaping. The stone facade was repaired; the parapet was extended to provide space for insulation; and new green roof and windows improved the envelope for LEED NC Gold Certification (pending).

The Loder Hall Renovation at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary received a 2012 Evanston Preservation and Design Award for Sensitive Adaptive Reuse.

The Seminary buildings, designed by Holabird and Roche and its successor firm, are Evanston Landmarks.
