As one of the largest high schools in the Chicago Public Schools network, restoring and repairing the exterior envelope of Von Steuben High School was a massive undertaking. McGuire Igleski thoroughly inspected the existing facades and prepared a detailed scope of work for the comprehensive repair of the building. The masonry, including brick, limestone, and terra cotta, were cleaned and restored, the windows were replaced similar to the original configuration, and the roof was replaced, including sensitive rebuilding of the parapets.

Located on the border of the North Park and Albany Park neighborhoods, the impressive 220,00 square foot school was completed in 1930 and designed by architect Paul Gerhardt, architect of the Cook County Hospital Administration Building. The exterior of Von Steuben High School expresses details of the Late Gothic Revival style through elaborate and ornamental off-white terra cotta details, which accentuate the bright orange brick façades.
