In conjunction with extensive building infrastructure updates, McGuire Igleski designed new, expanded bathrooms and kitchen facilities in the student dormitories at Harlan and Blackstone Halls. The outdated and cramped bathrooms were replaced with bright, modern, and flexible ADA-compliant accommodations. The rest of the dormitories were revitalized with new HVAC improvements, including the addition of air conditioning, full building flooring replacement, and painting.

Designed by architects Frost & Granger in 1907 and modeled after buildings at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Harlan and Blackstone Halls were originally built for and continue to serve as dormitories, primarily serving first-year students. The three-story towers face each other to create a prominent gateway into the Middle Campus at Lake Forest College.
