The comprehensive renovation of the historic elementary school in the Chicago Public Schools network was led by McGuire Igleski. The existing brick masonry facade was carefully repaired, the parapet was reconstructed, and new doors and roof provided a complete exterior revitalization. On the interior, finishes were updated in the classrooms, offices, and auditorium, along with accessibility upgrades to provide universal access for the students.

Designed by architect Dwight H. Perkins and constructed in 1910, it is one of four sister schools with a similar layout and Prairie-style design and materials. With its exceptional details of patterned brickwork and stone, it utilizes shades of tan and grey brick to accentuate the massing and highlight the building’s structural system at the exterior.
